HARD fest comes to NYC - 10/10/09

HARD fest made it’s New York City debut this past Saturday at Terminal 5. Dj Destructo, who started the HARD festivals in LA brought along a crew including Jack Beats, Rusko, Major Lazer, and Crookers. With a line up like that, everyone was sure to be in for a good night. While I had seen Diplo perform in the past, it was my first time seeing Major Lazer live. I had heard they put on a energetic stage show, but I had no idea what I was in for. I had underestimated what was about to happen, as Skerrit Bwoy ran onto the stage, with a bullet proof vest on, bottle of Courvoisier in one hand, and mic in the other. As if the crowd wasn’t worked up enough, the performance was full of special guests, including Santigold and Mr. Lex who came on for Hold The Line. Nina Sky and Ricky Blaze also came out for Keep it Goin’ Louder. The party continued as guests stormed the stage, and the dancers began daggering on stage. Everyone came out for this, including Theophilus London, and M.I.A., both watching from the sides of the stage.

If you are in LA, or can get to LA for any of the Hard Fest shows, I recommend it 100%. Hard will be throwing a two day Haunted Mansion party October 30th and 31st. And what better way to ring in the New Year than with Boys Noize, and HARD?

I also did some video, editing it now, and will have it up ASAP!

Electric Zoo preview

So due to some technical issues I had to work out, and just overall being very busy this month, I haven’t had a chance to upload the pictures from Electric Zoo at Randall’s Island in NYC on September 5th and 6th. For more info on the festival, check out my friend Anthony’s post on his blog, Tastes Like Caramel.

Day 1 and Day 2 at Tastes Like Caramel

Heres at least two shots though, the rest I will get up this weekend.

Loris Diran Spring / Summer 2010 - September 14, 2009

On Monday, Loris Diran displayed his upcoming Spring Summer 2010 collection at The Altman Building. The collection was a reflection on the designers childhood time spent at Coney Island. I was invited by Diran and his business partner, Mark Sage, to shoot not only the runway but also the behind the scenes action. Spotted in the audience: Nolé Marin, designer Malan Breton,  Real Housewife of New York, Alex McCord, and surprisingly enough, Ron Jeremy.

It’s been a while - Sorry about that.

Ok, so I have been back at home in New Hampshire for the summer taking some classes, and haven’t much thought about this site (there isn’t much of a nightlife here, believe me) until well, when the hosting bills came in. So I thought I would at least get SOMETHING up here, so here is an MP3 for you all. Thanks to Sheena Beaston Ive had this one stuck in my head for quite some time now.

The track is The Hood Internet ( link ), who are always the go to for mashups, mixing VEGA’s No Reason with Amanda Blank’s Might Like You Better. Sadly these are two of the many acts I have missed while being away, so if you are in one of the cities where either VEGA, or Amanda Blank (even The Hood Internet for that matter) are coming through, make sure to check them out. If you haven’t heard either, this track will get you hooked!

NYC, Ill be back soon enough!

This ones a little late to get up here, I left NYC for New Hampshire and haven’t had a chance to edit these between packing/long bus rides. So that effectively made Saturday night my last night out in New York for a little while (Ill be back soon enough). Finger On The Pulse threw a great party! They kicked things off as the crowd started to arrive, then it was Europe meets New York with Justin Faust from Germany, Louis la Roche from The UK, and finally Danger from France.
